The leaves are taking on their fall colors and many have already fallen to the ground. There are still plenty left in the trees to keep our forests less illuminated on these gloomy fall days. Warblers have already come and are almost all gone. They are slowly replaced by Kinglets, Junco and White-throated Sparrows. Our forest birds are returning to the Greater Montreal region after their summer holiday up North.
One of my favorite birds returning this fall, the White-breasted Nuthatch. Even if they don’t all leave us for the summer, their omnipresence is always greatly appreciated. The White-breasted Nuthatch is full of character and it’s less than shy disposition makes it an easy and fun bird to observe.
